Funding Priorities

  • 75% of our net proceeds stays in our service area of Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie Counties to fund vital breast health education and breast cancer screening, treatment and patient navigation grants.
  • 25% is contributed to the national Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Grant Program to fund ground-breaking breast cancer research.

Funding
Through the Susan G. Komen South Florida’s 2015  Community Profile Report, we have identified the following funding priorities:

  • Provide access to screening, diagnosis, and/ or treatment services to individuals with limited financial resources ( at 200 percent or below the Federal Poverty Guidelines) in North, South Palm Beach County/The Glades; Martin County/Indiantown; and/or St. Lucie Counties/Ft. Pierce and Port St. Lucie to achieve optimal breast health outcomes. Priority groups are Seniors, Hispanic/Latinas, women of African descent, and women of Ashkenazi Jewish descent that are at greater risk for late stage diagnosis and/or breast cancer death.
  • Reduce financial barriers for uninsured and underinsured individuals at 200 percent or below the Federal Poverty Guidelines residing in North, South Palm Beach County/The Glades; Martin County/Indiantown; and/or St. Lucie Counties/Ft. Pierce and Port St. Lucie in order to increase access to the breast cancer continuum of care and achieve optimal breast health outcomes. Priority groups are Seniors, Hispanic/Latinas, women of African descent, and women of Ashkenazi Jewish descent that are at greater risk for late stage diagnosis and/or breast cancer death.
  • Provide culturally competent navigation to individuals with limited financial resources (at 200 percent or below the Federal Poverty Guidelines) in North, South Palm Beach County/The Glades; Martin County/Indiantown; and/or St. Lucie Counties/Ft. Pierce and Port St. Lucie to increase access to breast screening, diagnostic, treatment, and survivorship services. Priority groups are Seniors, Hispanic/Latinas, women of African descent, and women of Ashkenazi Jewish descent that are at greater risk for late stage diagnosis and/or breast cancer death.
  • Provide culturally competent breast health outreach and education to individuals with limited financial resources (at 200 percent or below the Federal Poverty Guidelines) in North, South Palm Beach County/The Glades; Martin County/Indiantown; and/or St. Lucie Counties/Ft. Pierce and Port St. Lucie to encourage women to initiate early detection and screening services, and provide follow up support if needed. Priority groups are Seniors, Hispanic/Latinas, women of African descent, and women of Ashkenazi Jewish descent that are at greater risk for late stage diagnosis and/or breast cancer death.
