Palm Beach Post–At Komen, Hope Wears Pink
January 26, 2014
They came 12,000 strong on a brisk January morning, proudly wearing the color of the day — pink. They sported pink tutus. Pushed pink strollers. Wore pink cowboy hats. Donned pink wigs. Even many of the pooches bounced around in pink collards, with one wearing pink butterfly wings.
All that pink of Flagler Drive, in January, means on thing: the Susan G. Komen South Florida Race for the Cure, the 23rd annual event that raises money for breast cancer research, education, treatment programs and screening. Seventy-five percent of the money raised goes toward funding grants to local hospitals and community groups.
