Palm Beach Post – 20,000 expected to swarm downtown West Palm to Race for the Cure Saturday morning

January 24, 2014

WEST PALM BEACH—The Susan G. Komen South Florida Race for the Cure, now in its 23rd year, will color downtown West Palm Beach pink Saturday morning as thousands gather to raise money for breast cancer research.

An estimated 15,000 survivors and their supporters participated in last year’s event, and organizers are hoping 20,000 will turn out this year to walk and run along Flagler Drive — and raise $2 million for breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs.

Race day will begin at Meyer Amphitheatre at 7:30 a.m. with the women’s 5K race, and will continue throughout the morning with a men’s 5K run, a team 5K walk, an individual 5K walk, a kids run for children ages 6 to 12, and a tots run for little ones 5 years old and younger.
