CBS12–Race for the Cure Registration Down, Komen Funding Down

January 24, 2014

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.–Those who participate in Susan G. Komen’s Race for the Cure all have their own special reasons.

“The cause is important to me because I lost a colleague to breast cancer,” said Diane Ragalie, who registered for the race on Friday.

But the numbers this year are lower than usual.

12,000 are registered compared to 18,000 from last year.

Fundraising for the local chapter is also down.

In 2013, they raised $800,000 compared to 2012 at $1.3 million.
